This massage is a full-body deep-tissue massage, customized to target specific problematic areas after a thorough assessment and evaluation has been done with focused outcomes being the basis for the treatment. Massage and bodywork modalities such as Sports Massage, Deep Tissue Massage,Grigorian Method® Massage, Neuromuscular and Myofascial Massage, Lymphatic Massage and techniques such as Cupping Therapy, Stone Therapy, and Aromatherapy are used where needed. To learn more about each of these, read below.

Sports Massage

Maintain your body in optimal condition for workouts or competition. Techniques involve firm pressure targeting muscles and connective tissue deep within the body and, in particular, those areas specific to your particular sport. This restorative therapy helps prevent injuries and aids recovery from workouts and prior injuries by reducing the stress and tension that can build up in the soft tissues. This is an active treatment that includes hydrotherapy, range of motion stretches and both active and passive release of sports specific muscle groups and trigger points.

Deep Tissue Massage

Constant deep pressure is applied with slow deliberate strokes to target the inner layers of muscles, tendons, fascia, and dense connective tissue to release contracted areas, facilitating relief and healing. Similar to Swedish massage, but its deep rhythmic motion is designed to systematically open major muscle groups and is ideal for those involved in heavy physical activity. It reduces inflammation and can also work for people with chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia and lower back pain. This treatment is excellent for releasing knots and areas of tension and for those who need to recover from stress and have an overall sensation of being ‘blocked’. It enhances energy, blood flow and function of muscles and organ systems, bringing a sense of lightness and ease.

Neuromuscular and Myofascial Massage

Do you suffer from chronic muscle and nerve pain? Injury and other factors can de-stabilize nerve transmission causing pain and dysfunction. Neuromuscular techniques involve the manipulation of soft tissue to restore balance to the central nervous system. Digital pressure and slow, focused movement across the area of pain is used to detect and release tender muscle points (trigger points) and aid blood flow into the area which tends to be the cause of ongoing muscular pain symptoms and nerve compression. Flexibility stretching is also part of this treatment to help with alignment and movement.

Grigorian Method® Massage

This is an effective, unique body treatment that focuses on the human skeleton. The Method® employs a systematic treatment using joint movement and range of motion in combination with pressure points exercised upon a fully-relaxed, passive client. This Method® facilitates the release of restrictions and increases the body’s flexibility and resiliency. It is a preventative treatment for inflammatory diseases as well as a useful means of body maintenance and therapeutic recovery.

Lymphatic Massage

This specialized massage focuses on the lymphatic system – part of the immune system – to facilitate better blood flow, fluid balance and immune efficiency. Particularly recommended for lymphedema, fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. It’s recommended that clients first discuss this massage with their physician.

Cupping Therapy

Using the application of cups, a local suction is created on the skin to ease pain and help heal musculoskeletal injuries, such as strains, sprains, back injuries, and inflammation by enhancing blood circulation, reducing inflammation and removing toxins.

Stone Therapy

Hot stones can be applied to sore or achy spots, damaged tissue or tense muscles to promote blood flow, ease tension and better prepare the area for massage.  Cold stones are another option and are used to reduce inflammation, calm engorged blood vessels, soothe skin and can calm an area that was worked after massage.
