Lymphatic Massage

This specialized massage improves lymphatic function by helping to drain and circulate lymphatic fluid, while also facilitating better blood flow, fluid balance and immune efficiency. Light skin stretching is used to move lymph fluid out of the tissues and mobilize the lymphatic system. This massage is particularly recommended to prevent and treat lymphedema while those with medical conditions such as fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis can experience many benefits as well. This massage is also used to reduce swelling due to injury or infection, pregnancy, sitting for long periods - such as when travelling, and aging. Other benefits of lymphatic massage include softening of firm and thickened skin, pain reduction and muscle relaxation. Also, movement of the lymph aids in the elimination of waste deposited in tissues resulting in the elimination of liquids and therefore a loss of body weight. This may result in a reduction of the volume and perimeter of the abdomen and thighs. It’s recommended that clients with medical conditions discuss this massage with their physician beforehand.
